Effective Emergency Planning for Your House of Worship

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has launched a new webpage specifically dedicated to providing access to information that supports efforts to secure your church while maintaining an open and welcoming environment.

Information and checklists you need to keep you and your church prepared and safe this hurricane season.

Protecting Your Church During Civil Unrest

Churches across the country have recently encountered new challenges in the form of peaceful protests that have turned violent; naturally, congregations are concerned about their church property. Based on options for consideration provided by the Department of Homeland Security, we have provided information to help keep your congregation and church property safe.

Active Shooter

What role should ushers perform?

Is there a congregant evacuation plan?

Who should be trained in First-Aid/CPR/AED?

There are countless questions and scenarios to consider in order to improve church safety and security. Insurance Board offers resources to help plan for the unthinkable.

Flood Damage

Insurance Board provides information to churches regarding emergency operations planning for the spectrum of threats and hazards they may face. Developing a plan is the first step in preparing for severe storms, earthquake, tornado, fire, hail, hazardous materials, and active intruder situations.

Fire Damage

According to a report by the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA), U.S. fire departments responded to an average of 1,780 structure fires in religious and funeral properties annually; 30% of which were caused by cooking equipment. These fires resulted in $111 million in direct property damage.

Insurance Board offers the right church insurance coverage and safety resources , including webinars, checklists and best practices for fire prevention and protection for your church.

Water Damage

Whether it’s a pipe bursting or a leaking roof, water damage can significantly disrupt your ministry. Insurance Board offers resources that can help you prevent costly water damage – including how to prevent pipes freezing and thawing pipes safely. Did you know that many property policies will cover damage caused by wind or fire,  but damage caused by water from a flood requires different coverage.  Insurance Board offers specialty flood coverage, and helpful guidance on how to be proactive and minimize damage in the case of flooding.
