Insurance Board Adds Agent in Florida
The Insurance Board (IB) has named Brent A. Johnson, CPCU, ARM as the agent representing the organization in northern Florida and serving the churches and related ministries of the Florida Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church (USA) denomination.
Brent has over 35 years of commercial property and liability insurance experience, including working with churches in Florida, Michigan and Ohio as well as non-profit organizations. He holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations.
Brent will be serving the PCUSA churches through Bill Hopkins Insurance & Financial Services in Monticello, Florida. Brent serves as an Elder and Session member of First Presbyterian Church-Monticello, is a former chairman of their finance committee, current chairman of the mission committee, and acts as the board liaison with their Eagles Wings food ministry.
The addition of Brent to the Insurance Board team created the opportunity to make other changes in the state as well. The IB is pleased to announce that Rhett Everett, who has long been affiliated with the IB program, now serves churches and related ministries of the Tropical Florida Presbytery in addition to the presbyteries of St. Augustine, Tampa Bay, and Central Florida as well as the Florida Conference of the UCC, and the Florida Region of the Disciples of Christ.
Rhett specializes in insuring religious institutions and churches, and currently insures approx. 250 churches in Florida. Rhett has over 25 years of experience in insurance and currently serves as vice president of Insurance Office of America (IOA) in Jupiter Florida. Rhett has considerable experience developing innovative programs for religious institutions. He holds the ARM designation (Associate in Risk Management) and is actively involved with Nonprofit Risk Management Associations and symposiums.
Richard Alexander will serve the churches of the Peace River Presbytery. Richard has been with the Insurance Board since 2009, when the Presbyterian Church (USA) denomination became eligible to participate in the IB program. He has an extensive insurance and business background, having begun his insurance career as a Fire Protection Engineer for the Insurance Services Office (ISO). Richard was also the Insurance and Risk Manager for a California based Fortune 500 company. He has held various positions in the insurance industry and brings a wealth of knowledge to the churches he serves.
The changes we’ve made in the state of Florida better position us to serve all three denominations in the state,” says Christine L. Shoop, Director of Business Development for the Insurance Board. “We are pleased to have such a vast wealth of insurance expertise representing us in Florida.”
